Pilot Mound Hockey Academy flipped the script on Notre Dame Saturday, avenging Friday’s loss with a gritty 3-1 road win built almost entirely off the stick of Tucker Derkach (2G). A scoreless first gave way to Derkach breaking the ice shorthanded late in the second, and the two sides traded shorthanded blows to open the third when Bladen Norton (1G, 1A) cashed in on the power play before Alex Krylov (1G) answered right back for the Hounds while his own team was down a man. Derkach wasn’t finished, though, potting his second of the night just minutes later to restore the two-goal cushion for good. Avery Cantleberry was rock-solid between the pipes, turning aside 26 of 27 for the win, while Santiago Schyns-Munoz kept his club within striking distance, stopping 35 of 38 in the losing effort.
North Shore Warriors (1) vs Delta Hockey Academy (6) U15 Prep
Delta Hockey Academy sat patiently through a scoreless first period before absolutely erupting for the rest of the afternoon, burying North Shore Warriors 6-1 at home Saturday behind a hat trick masterclass from Alex Iaichkin. The floodgates cracked open in the second when Iaichkin opened his account off feeds from Daniel Valchev and Mason Hostyn, and once the third period arrived, Delta simply refused to let up, Iaichkin struck twice more inside the first minute alone, including one shorthanded, sandwiched around a Seven Tyson tally. Easton Isfeld chipped in with a goal of his own to make it five unanswered, and though Mason Stanton (1G) finally solved Holter Karpiak on the power play to spoil the shutout bid, Jack Walker slammed the door on any hope of a comeback with an answer of his own before the horn.
Ontario Hockey Academy (7) vs Ulysse Academie (1) East CCM
Ontario Hockey Academy wasted no time putting this one to bed, jumping out to a four-goal cushion inside the first period alone and cruising to a 7-1 win over an Ulysse Academie side that’s now been outscored 18-1 across its last two outings. Mykyta Staskevych (1G) got the party started on the power play before the opening frame had even hit six minutes, and Leo Menard (1G) piled on shortly after, also with the extra attacker advantage, to make it 2-0. Kingston Dery (1G) and Drayton Gunner (1G) traded turns finding the twine before intermission, and OHA never looked back, tacking on a lone Etienne Grandbois (1G, 1A) marker in the second before Yota Matsumura (1G) and Thomas Petit (1G, 1A) bookended a third-period flurry to stretch the margin to seven. Ulysse finally cracked the scoreboard late through Timothe M’Voula (1G), but it was little more than a footnote in a night that saw Ulysse’s netminder Alexis Imbeault pulled after allowing four on 16 shots, with Alessandro Do Monte finishing it off in relief, stopping 14 of 17. Roman Bakhusov, meanwhile, had a relatively quiet evening in the opposite crease, stopping 26 of 27 for the win.
BWC Academy (2) vs Yale Hockey Academy (5) U15
Yale Hockey Academy struck early and often, riding a five-different-scorer effort to a 5-2 win over BWC Academy at home Saturday. Carter Jackson (1G, 1A) opened the scoring just past the five-minute mark of the first, and Ryan Ireland (1G) doubled the lead late in the frame before Isaiah Abdulla (1G) got BWC on the board in the final minute to keep things within reach. Jake Barszczewski (1G, 1A) restored the two-goal cushion early in the second, but Brandon Christian (1G, 1A) answered for BWC to make it a one-goal game heading to the third. Yale slammed the door from there, with Kane Golding (1G, 1A) and Gavin Richardson (1G) each finding the back of the net to seal it.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (5) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (2) U15 Prep
A day removed from a lopsided 10-0 win over Shawnigan Lake, Okanagan Hockey Academy kept the good times rolling, needing only about ten minutes to build a commanding lead en route to a 5-2 win over Pacific Coast. Kingston Prenioslo (1G, 1A) got the party started before the eight-minute mark, and Eli Wiercioch (1G) followed up less than two minutes later before Logan Kautz (1G, 1A) capped a three-goal opening frame to leave PCHA reeling. Makai Eaton (1G) tacked on another in the second to push the cushion to four, and though Brayden Castelsky (1G) got PCHA on the board with a power-play tally in the third, Nolan Gallagher (1G, 1A) answered right back within 20 seconds to keep the visitors at arm’s length. Greyson Ekramoddoullah (1G) added a late consolation marker for Pacific Coast, but it was far too little too late. Linden Hartford turned aside 32 of 34 for the win, while George Boyle stopped 24 of 29 in the loss.
Northern Alberta Xtreme (12) vs Notre Dame Hounds (0) U15
A night after edging Notre Dame 7-3, Northern Alberta Xtreme came back for more, completing the weekend sweep with a merciless 12-0 shutout behind a five-goal, seven-point eruption from Augustine Paziuk (5G, 2A). Lochlan Kisslinger opened the scoring midway through the first, and NAX turned the screws in the second, with Paziuk potting the first of his five, Nash Schwab (2G, 1A) and Corbin Blatz (2G, 1A) cashing in on the power play, and Paziuk striking again before the intermission to make it 5-0. The floodgates truly opened in the third: Yixuan Liu (1G, 1A), Schwab’s second, and Paziuk’s third of the night arrived inside a six-minute span, and Tristan Kozuki chipped in before Paziuk closed out his personal outburst with an unassisted double before Blatz slammed the door with his second of the game in the final seconds. Alexander Masikewich needed to be sharp early and was, turning aside all 22 shots he faced for the shutout.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (3) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (4) U17
Pilot Mound Hockey Academy stole one at home Saturday, riding a stellar 41-save effort from Vojta Svoboda to escape with a 4-3 win despite being thoroughly outshot 44-26. Walker Kempthorne drew first blood just past the four-minute mark, but Mateo Saldivar answered for the home side before Bryton Garrick restored Pilot Mound’s lead on the power play in the final minutes of the first. Julien Crook tied it right back up before the horn to send the teams into the intermission deadlocked at two. Oliver Helsen put the visitors back in front early in the second, only for Owen Anderson to level things again for RHAW. The two sides traded chances for the rest of regulation until Nixon Gabruck buried the eventual game-winner on the power play just five minutes into the third, and from there Svoboda simply refused to budge, weathering a heavy final push to close it out.
Edge School (3) vs OHA Edmonton (4) U15
OHA Edmonton weathered an early storm and a late Edge charge to escape with a nail-biting 4-3 win in a back-and-forth affair that swung with every period. Reese Milroy and Hayden Condie staked the home side to a quick 2-0 cushion inside the first four minutes, but Edge answered in kind, with Kase Lindberg pulling one back before Troy Reti buried a shorthanded marker in the closing seconds of the frame to knot things at two. Lucas Mullen restored OHA’s lead on the power play early in the second, only for Cohen Codner to level it right back up with a man advantage of his own, sending the teams to the third locked at three apiece. The deciding blow came midway through the final frame, when Jack Suda cashed in on the power play to give OHA the lead for good, and this time the defense held. Ayden Medeiros stopped 20 of 23 for the win.
BWC Academy (5) vs Delta Hockey Academy (7) U17
Delta Hockey Academy leaned on its forwards and stormed back from a stumble to salvage a thrilling 7-5 win at home over BWC Academy, avenging last week’s loss to the same club. Spencer Atkinson (2G) struck twice in the opening frame, sandwiching a Chase Henderson (1G, 1A) goal for BWC, to give Delta an early 2-1 cushion. Vincenzo Carnovale (1G, 1A) tied it up for BWC in the second, but Aleksandar Vasilev (1G) answered right back for Delta before Theo Falk (2G) beat the buzzer to level things again heading to the third. That’s when the game turned into a track meet: Toni Cipllaka (1G, 2A) opened the frame with a goal, Falk answered for BWC just 24 seconds later, and from there Delta simply took over, ripping off three unanswered from Cash Field (2G, 2A), Ryder Miller (1G, 2A), and a shorthanded dagger from Field again to push the lead to two scores. Max Goodman (1G) added a late power-play goal for BWC to make things interesting, but time ran out before the visitors could complete the comeback. Adriano Ciccone (3A) was held off the scoresheet as a scorer but factored into three of BWC’s five goals. Chase Newman made 30 saves for the win, while AJ Kwok was under siege most of the night, stopping 49 of 56 in the loss.
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (12) vs Shawnigan Lake School (4) U15 Prep
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna went on the road and put on an offensive clinic, in a 12-4 game that saw Hendrik Hesselgrave record a hat-trick and five points. Rowan McGrath and Colby Boltz struck less than 40 seconds apart to open the scoring, and though Liam McNaughton briefly gave Shawnigan hope with an answer, RHAK simply kept coming — Hunter Smithson and Hesselgrave both found the net before Shawn Bourgette buried an empty-netter at the horn to make it 5-1 through one. Shawnigan’s Cooper Sinclair scored twice early in the second to cut into the deficit, but Hesselgrave, Boltz, and Sidney Ritchie answered right back to push the lead to six by the second intermission. The third period was more of the same, with Smithson potting a shorthanded marker, Spencer Hall and Ajax Smith adding to the pile, and Hesselgrave capping his big night with a third goal in the closing minute. Foster Chang made 30 saves for the win, while Shawnigan turned to two goaltenders in the loss.
BWC Academy (4/OT) vs Yale Hockey Academy (3) U15 Prep
Sullivan Shoucair set up the extra-time winner after scoring the game tying goal late, capping a wild afternoon as BWC Academy outlasted Yale Hockey Academy 4-3 in overtime on the road. Finn Carkner opened the scoring on the power play in the first, but Yale answered with two of their own in the second, getting a power-play goal from Killian Wall and an even-strength marker from Mason Levandowsky to take a 2-1 lead into the third. BWC came out swinging, with Cooper McBride tying it up midway through the frame, only for Brady Barrett to restore Yale’s lead with under three and a half minutes left. Shoucair forced overtime with a clutch goal of his own with under two minutes remaining, setting the stage for the extra frame, where he found Minseo Song for the game-winner just past the four-minute mark. Grayson Kennard was outstanding in a heavy workload, stopping 48 of 51 for the win, while Mason Baptiste turned aside 35 of 39 in a tough-luck overtime loss.
Ulysse Academie (4) (BioSteel) vs Ontario Hockey Academy Mavericks (2) (CCM) East
In this interdivisional clash pitting the BioSteel Division’s Ulysse Academie against the CCM Division’s Ontario Hockey Academy Mavericks, it was the visitors who came out on top, riding a two-goal night from Evan Chiasson to a 4-2 road win. Alex Lepage opened the scoring late in the first for the Mavericks, but Chiasson answered just over a minute later to send the teams to the first intermission tied. Ulysse took control in the second, with Elliot Veilleux restoring their lead before Nathan Kabwe pulled OHAM back level, only for Chiasson to strike again in the final minute of the frame to put Ulysse back on top for good. Samuel La Barre added an insurance marker in the third to seal it. Zack Cholette was held off the scoresheet as a goalscorer but set up three of Ulysse’s four goals on the night.
Calgary International Hockey Academy (3) vs OHA Edmonton (2) U17 Prep
Calgary International Hockey Academy’s rout of a season stayed alive Saturday, edging OHA Edmonton 3-2 on the road to push their unbeaten start to four straight. Liam Nycholat and Eric Sexton struck in the opening minutes to stake CIHA to an early two-goal cushion, but Tucker Porter answered right back on the power play just seconds into the game to keep OHA within one heading into the rest of the first. Gavin Gong tied it up early in the second, and the two sides settled into a tense, penalty-filled stalemate until Juma Kinchen broke the deadlock midway through the third with what proved to be the winner. Alexandre Montembeault turned aside 29 of 31 for the win, while Rowen Germain kept OHA in it all night, stopping 28 of 31 before being pulled with under two minutes to play.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (1) U17
Okanagan Hockey Academy evened the season series with Pacific Coast Saturday, avenging Friday’s shootout loss with a low-scoring 2-1 grind on the road. Lux Naka opened the scoring on the power play midway through the first, but Marcus Adams answered just over a minute later for PCHA to level things heading into a scoreless, penalty-heavy second period that saw both benches lose multiple players to misconducts. The deciding goal didn’t come until late in the third, when Arlen Brimacombe found the back of the net with under four minutes to play to give Okanagan the lead for good. Nash Atkinson was sharp when it mattered, stopping 29 of 30 for the win, while Liam Brown turned aside 28 of 30 in the loss.
STAR Hockey Academy (2) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (5) U15
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna snapped a two-game skid in style Saturday, jumping out early and never trailing en route to a 5-2 win at home over a reeling STAR Hockey Academy squad. Coye Baker (1G) and Corson Hatter (1G, 1A) struck less than two minutes apart late in the first to give RHAK a two-goal cushion, and the floodgates opened wider in the second, with Vincent Vass (1G) and Fielding Monette (1G) each finding the back of the net inside the opening four minutes to push the lead to four. STAR finally got on the board through Callan Dorzek (1G) to avoid the shutout, but Kellan Arruda (1G, 1A) answered right back in the closing seconds of the frame to restore the four-goal margin heading to the third. Stefan Tsoy (1G) added a shorthanded consolation marker for STAR late in regulation, but by then the outcome was long decided. Preston Wawryk made 38 saves for the win, while Tyler Samuelson stopped 31 of 36 in the loss.
Bourget College (5) vs Stanstead College (8) East CCM
Stanstead College weathered an early scare and a wild, penalty-filled second period to hold off Bourget College 8-5 at home Saturday. Mathieu Passerini (1G) opened the scoring for the visitors, but Elliot Bibeau-Rivard (2G) answered before the break, and Christophe Potvin (1G, 1A) restored Bourget’s lead late in the frame to make it 2-1 after twenty. The second period turned into an offensive avalanche: Alexis Lavoie (2G) and Bibeau-Rivard both scored on the power play in the opening minutes to put Stanstead ahead, and Ylan Verpaelst (1G, 2A) piled on before Carter Verdone (2G, 1A) answered twice for Bourget, sandwiched around a Matej Dobos (1G, 1A) goal and a Zack Couture (1G, 1A) tally, in a period that saw the two sides combine for seven goals. Ludovic Roberge (1G, 1A) pulled Bourget within two on the power play early in the third, but Shane-Alexandre Dubé (1G, 2A) and Lavoie’s second of the night restored Stanstead’s cushion and shut the door for good. Isaac DeFranco (3A) was the busiest playmaker on the ice, factoring into three different Stanstead goals without scoring himself.
CIH Academy (1) vs Fort Erie International Academy (3) East CCM
Fort Erie International Academy weathered a physical, penalty-soaked affair to open the season with a 3-1 win on the road over CIH Academy. Victor Yuzgulec (1G) opened the scoring early in the first, and Nikita Lozhenitsyn (1G) briefly leveled things for CIH in the second before Elisei Melikian (1G, 1A) restored Fort Erie’s lead on the power play. Jayden Goolab (1G) put the game away in the third. Both sides spent long stretches shorthanded, but Fort Erie’s discipline in the crucial moments made the difference. Malo Jacquier made the lone save he faced for the win, while Thomas Flint stopped 2 of 3 in the loss.
Delta Hockey Academy Black (4) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (2) Women’s U18 Prep
Delta Hockey Academy Black spoiled OHA Black first game of the season, riding a two-goal, three-point performance from Neveah Brankovic (2G, 1A) to a 4-2 win on the road despite a heavily penalized night for the home side. Abbie Summers (1G) opened the scoring less than six minutes in, and OHA answered right back through Makena Sawyer (1G) to briefly level things. Brankovic put Delta back in front on the power play late in the first, and she struck again with the extra attacker early in the second to push the lead to 3-1. Kiana Yao (1G) pulled Okanagan Hockey Academy Black within one late in the frame, but Jojo Mailhot (1G) restored the two-goal cushion just 47 seconds into the third, and from there Delta’s defense, and a stellar 44-save effort from Kacey MacLean’s counterpart, closed the door. Claire Cheyne (3A) was the busiest set-up woman on the ice, factoring into three of Delta’s four goals.
CIH Academy (2) vs OHA Edmonton (8) U15 Prep
OHA Edmonton avenged Friday’s loss to Calgary International in resounding fashion, riding a monster four-point night for Marek Fetter. He finished with two goals and two assists as OHAE erupted for an 8-2 win at home. Brody Schwartz (1G) opened the scoring less than eleven minutes in, and Fetter (2G, 2A) struck twice more before the first intermission, sandwiching a Kiptyn Bodnar (1G) power-play tally, to send OHAE into the break up 3-0. Fetter’s second goal in the second period made it 4-0 before Matus Kudrna (1G) finally got CIHA on the board early in the third. OHA answered immediately, though, with Gannon Smith (2G) opening a four-goal third-period salvo that also saw Reid Hartmann (3G, 1A) score three times, to complete a dominant offensive showing. Kaisen Kirchner (1G, 1A) added a late consolation marker for Calgary, but the game was well out of reach.
Delta Hockey Academy White (11) vs North Shore Warriors (0) U15
Delta Hockey Academy White made it back-to-back blowout wins for the Delta program this weekend, winning against North Shore Warriors 11-0 in a game that was never remotely close. Augie Doyle (1G, 2A) got things going early, and Evan Bamara (1G, 1A) and Emmett Wahl (2G, 1A) each cashed in before intermission to make it 3-0 through one. The second period was more of the same, with Aaron Neilson (2G, 1A), Cyrus Bains (2G, 2A), Levi Reedman (1G, 2A), and Mason Nishi (1G, 1A) all finding twine to push the margin to seven by the second intermission. Dane Tekavc (1G, 2A), Neilson’s second, Bains’ second, and Wahl’s third of the night rounded out the scoring in the third to complete the rout. Grayson Petersen turned in a perfect night in net, stopping all 23 shots he faced for the shutout.
Edge School (3) vs Notre Dame Hounds (2) U17
Edge School turned a nail-biter into a road win Saturday, riding a two-point night from Jaret Otto (1G, 1A) and a late go-ahead marker to edge Notre Dame 3-2. Benjamin McNeil struck first for the Hounds on the power play in the opening frame, and Notre Dame’s Aidan Dale stood tall between the pipes to keep it that way until Lucas Chan (1G, 1A) tied things up midway through the second. The two sides battled through a tense final period until Satoshi Takeda (1G) broke the deadlock with under nine minutes to play, only for Oliver Bonilla to answer right back and force overtime looming. But Otto had other plans, potting the eventual winner with just 17 seconds remaining to seal it for the visitors. Kyson Sylvester (2A) set up two of Edge’s three goals without finding the net himself. Vincent Arsenault made 24 saves for the win, while Dale was outstanding in a losing effort, stopping 37 of 39 shots faced.
Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (4) vs STAR Hockey Academy (1) U17 Prep
STAR Hockey Academy’s dominant start to the season stagnated on Friday against Pacific Coast, with STAR looking to bounce back in the second of three head-to-head clashes on Saturday morning. Unfortunately for them, the damage done by the Sea Devils early proved too much damage for STAR to sustain. Trent Porter, who has been one of PCHA’s standouts so far this season, struck twice early, with PCHA’s Oliver Boniface (29/30) stopping 18 of 19 in the first period to establish PCHA securely in front. Hudson Elke scored to provide some insurance later in the game to help PCHA to the win, with the Pacific Coast penalty kill coming up big late.
Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (1) vs Delta Hockey Academy (14) U17 Prep
The Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy went into Saturday’s clash with Delta Hockey Academy in relative desperation to grab a U17 Prep result after five straight losses to open up their schedule. Delta started 2026-27 off with two wins in a row before Saturday’s appointment with Wenatchee and, unfortunately for the Wild, would continue that run of form into Saturday’s clash with Wenatchee. The trio of Braelyn Nunley (4G, 1A), Mazen Green (3G, 2A), and Carson Brown (1G, 4A) combined for fifteen points, and Delta’s special teams provided them with a combined six goals — three on the power play and three shorthanded.
BWC Academy (7) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (5) U17 Prep
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna returned from an opening weekend trip to Idaho with one win from three games, following up their Coeur d’Alene series with three games in the Okanagan this weekend. Friday saw RINK Kelowna fall at the hands of the Okanagan Hockey Academy before Saturday brought them a BWC Academy squad that had bested Wenatchee on Friday to follow an opening game win over St. George’s School. The two teams traded goals in the first period before RINK Kelowna’s second powerplay goal of the game in the second period sent RHAK into the third period with a 3-2 lead. Unfortunately for RINK, a penalty late in the second period gave BWC a powerplay to start the third, and that would mark a massive turning point in the game. Ethan Kartadinata (2G) scored his first of two powerplay goals in the game to tie the game, with the start of four straight BWC goals to give them a 6-3 lead in the third. RHA Kelowna pushed, but ultimately couldn’t make their way all the way back, with BWC hanging on for the high-event 7-5 win.
Prairie Hockey Academy (2) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (7) U17 Prep
The South Alberta Hockey Academy’s U17 Prep squad bounced back from a loss against OHA Edmonton in their season opener with a pair of wins, first a win over OHAE in a rematch, followed by a 10-1 thumping of RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg before Saturday’s clash with Prairie Hockey Academy. Prairie hadn’t got their season started yet, with Saturday the first of two head-to-head matchups with SAHA this weekend. After going down 1-0, Maguire Lepp and Deklan Street opened their accounts for 2026-27 and gave Prairie a 2-1 lead at the game’s halfway mark. A short span of time late in the second period, though, completely changed the game. Macen Ibach (1G, 1A) and Elliott Irwin scored ten seconds apart to turn the game around, before less than one minute later, Lincoln Bensler made it 4-2. SAHA only further tilted the ice from there, with three more in the third sealing a 7-2 win.
CIH Academy (1) vs Fort Erie International Academy (7) East BioSteel
A scoreless first period between CIH Academy and Fort Erie International Academy was as dormant as their Saturday clash would lie, with Shakhmassud Taniyev’s goal 80 seconds into the second period getting the ball rolling. His goal was the first of four straight, with Dmitril Kuzmin scoring shorthanded, and Daniel Geshev stopping 25 of 26 en route to the win.
North Shore Warriors (0) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (7) U17 Prep
The Okanagan Hockey Academy didn’t start their U17 Prep season until Friday night, an all-Okanagan matchup that saw OHA prevail over RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna. Saturday brought them the North Shore Warriors, who’d thumped Wenatchee 10-1 in their only previous U17 Prep game so far. Only one of the two teams could continue on undefeated. Luke Couldwell (2G, 1A) and Brysten Campbell (2G, 1A) gave OHA a two-goal lead before the game was even eight minutes old, sending OHA on a road to victory that North Shore couldn’t direct them away from. OHA’s powerplay grabbed a goal through Jake Gates, and their penalty kill went five-for-five, with Hudson Swankhuizen making 21 saves in his eventual 7-0 win.
Delta Hockey Academy Black (4/SO) vs St. George’s School (3) U15
Delta Hockey Academy Black had won their two previous games by a combined score of 16-1 heading towards Saturday’s clash with the St. George’s Saints. SGS prevailed in both their opening weekend games against STAR Hockey Academy, and against Delta Black, led 1-0 through forty minutes. The lead that St. George took into the third period was snatched back by Delta Black in the third, first through Ryan Romano making it 1-1, before Rhys Borisoff gave the Saints their lead back. Less than two minutes after Borisoff’s goal, Jake Plante (1G, 1A) and Rhett Lowndes (1G, 1A) scored 19 seconds apart to give Delta their first lead of the game. Eli Foulds (2G) made sure St. George’s School wouldn’t go away quietly, tying the game with his second, a tie that would eventually hold all the way through overtime. Jase Taylor (24/27) kept out all three St. George’s School shooters, with Ryan Romano scoring the only goal of the shootout to lead Delta Black to the shootout win.
St. George’s School (6) vs Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (1) U15 Prep
St. George’s School’s trip to Idaho sees them play Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy both Saturday night and Sunday morning to get their U15 Prep schedule underway, with CDA likewise hitting the ice for the first time in 2026-27 to face the Saints. Josh Marsh scored the only goal of the first period to give St. George’s the lead in a period that was somewhat evenly matched. The ice tilted in St. George’s favour in the second and third periods, with the Saints outshooting Coeur d’Alene 39-13 over the final forty minutes. Asher Jin scored two with Asher Rogachevsky (1G, 2A) and Quentin Hersch (3A) popping in with three points each to lead their team to what ended as a 6-1 win.
Edge School (4) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (1) U15 Prep
The rivalry between Edge School and the Northern Alberta Xtreme in the U15 Prep division got established early in a season that will surely see them cross paths, not just in league play, but in external tournament play as these two groups prepare for a year that will end with their U15 draft. The first game on NAX’s schedule brought them an Edge Mountaineers side that had been bested twice by the Calgary International Hockey Academy in a disappointing opening weekend. The Mountaineers started the game like a team intent on grabbing the win that eluded them last weekend, with Gio Niven (1G, 2A) scoring just 55 seconds into the game to make it 1-0 Edge School, and from there on, Edge wouldn’t look back. Nazar Shmatok scored twice on either side of the second intermission to double and then further lengthen the Edge advantage, with Enzo Fournier (1G, 2A) sealing the deal in the third period. Edge goaltender David Tisdale (20/21) was beaten just once in their 4-1 win.
Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (1) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (2/OT) U17
Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy’s U17 squad were put on the back of their goaltender on Saturday, with an absolutely heroic performance from Aiden Olynick (48/50) not just keeping them in the game, but helping them into the third period up by a Dustyn Good goal. Declan Smith finally broke through for RINK Kelowna in the third to tie the game, and in overtime, a Kelowna powerplay did the final bit of necessary damage, with Harlan Grimsdell picking up his first U17 goal to seal the win.
Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (10) vs Notre Dame Hounds (2) U15 Prep
Neither the Pilot Mound Hockey Academy nor Notre Dame Hounds had kicked off their season before Saturday night, with this the first of two head-to-head clashes this weekend. Pilot Mound hit the ice and quickly appeared to in midseason form. Zac Klassen (3G, 2A) opened the scoring barely two minutes in, starting an explosion of offence for the Buffaloes that would see them up four through one. Klassen led the way with a hat-trick, with Walker McLeod and Konnor Dixon scoring two apiece en route to a 10-2 PMHA win.
North Shore Warriors (4) vs Shawnigan Lake School (2) Women’s U18 Prep
If the rest of the head-to-head clashes between the North Shore Warriors and Shawnigan Lake School’s Women’s U18 Prep squads this season resemble their game on Saturday, they’re going to be can’t-miss occasions. The game saw a combined 77 shots on goal over sixty minutes and was evenly fought throughout, with North Shore’s second-period explosion of offence ultimately the difference. After Shawnigan led 1-0 through one, North Shore grabbed a shorthanded goal from Khya Swanson, a powerplay goal from Madison Seitz, and an even-strength goal from Gia Carella (1G, 2A) in the second to turn their deficit into a 3-1 lead heading into the third. The two teams traded goals in the third, with Noe Crookham’s powerplay goal for Shawnigan cancelled out by Cali Cross, making it 4-2 North Shore, where it would end.
Delta Hockey Academy Green (6) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (1) Women’s U18 Prep
Delta Hockey Academy Green won 5-3 on Friday night at RINK Kelowna, but after a tightly fought clash in their season opener, they never looked like a team under threat in their second game of the year against Okanagan Hockey Academy. Abigail Jung scored 27 seconds into the game for Delta to start a first period that saw Delta outshoot Okanagan 11-1. Jung’s goal proved just the first of six Delta goals from six different players, with Sophia Dhami, Emma Biros, Eden Hamel (1G, 1A), Gabriella Lee (1G, 1A) and Adie Schneider hitting the net in a game Delta outshot their opponent 39-16 and won 6-1.
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna Red (6) vs North Shore Warriors Orange (0) Women’s U18 Prep
Saturday’s game between RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna Red and the North Shore Warriors Orange started with an evenly fought and scoreless first period, but unfortunately for North Shore, it wouldn’t remain in that manner. Addyson Brown scored 3:26 into the second period to get things going for RINK Kelowna, a goal that would start the ball rolling on an offensive performance that ultimately won them the game. Brown’s goal was added to by Avery Knoblauch, Jordyn Dumont (1G, 1A), Sloan Lane (1G, 1A), Cali Lane, and Taylor Dumont scoring in the 6-0 win.
